There’s certain classic tunes that are simply untouchable — too unique, too overplayed, too iconic, too linked to a particular artist — that is, until just the right artist lends their special something to it. This may explain why Manchester Orchestra frontman Andy Hull and frequent MO collaborator Kevin Devine’s cover of this timeless ode just works.

“New track coming, we’ve been working on it for a minute,” says Hull in the clip. “Yeah, this one’s definitely been germinating in the lab,” adds Devine. The track in question, of course, is the unforgettable theme tune to the equally unforgettable ’90s television staple The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, which in the hands of Hull and Devine, sounds more like a Simon and Garfunkel cut.

Manchester Orchestra are set to launch their Australian East Coast tour next month, with performances planned for Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney. The Atlanta rockers recently confirmed that Devine and Melbourne boys Apes will be supporting them throughout the tour.
