After several days of concern from fans over the ultimate fate of the troubled Röyksopp & Robyn Australian tour, the Norwegian electronic duo confirmed over the weekend that their scheduled Down Under performances, which included spots at the upcoming Falls Festival 2014, are now officially cancelled.

“We are very sorry to have to let you know that we will not be able to come to Australia and Japan for our scheduled performances with Robyn,” read a statement issued via the duo’s official website.

“We have looked into possibilities to put together our own show in lieu of the Robyn & Röyksopp performances but unfortunately are unable to produce this in time,” they continue. “We are currently working on alternatives to come later next year with our own Röyksopp show.”

The tour was first put in doubt late last week after the pair’s collaborator and tour partner, Robyn, pulled out of what was to be a joint tour featuring individual sets from each act before culminating in a collaborative performance to end each show.

Tickets for the Scandinavian trio’s “state-of-the-art” Falls sideshows in Sydney and Melbourne failed to go on sale as scheduled last Wednesday, with promoters Live Nation claiming they were unable to go ahead with sales “due to unforeseen developments in recent days”.

Falls Festival organisers soon announced Robyn’s cancellation, citing “a personal family matter”. At the time, Falls promoters told fans that they are working on “updates to the line-up which will be released once confirmed.”

In a more recent statement issued via the official festival Facebook page, Falls organisers reassured fans, “We are currently working on replacements and will notify you with that news shortly – we promise it won’t be a long wait.”
