This time of year is always a pretty busy time for the folk over at Triple J as they put together their finalist lists of this year’s best Aussie Records, Double J Artists, Music Videos, and now just announced, Unearthed Artists.

Since its induction in 1995, Triple J’s Unearthed has worked tirelessly to deliver some of Australia’s finest up-and-coming talent to the forefront of music, and with 2014 coming to close, the radio station have announced the six nominees for their coveted Unearthed Artist of the Year.

This year’s pool is a diverse Aussie sonic palette of unique talent that draws from a myriad of genres, including the show-stopping priestess Airling, who is fresh from releasing her chilling Love Grace EP as well as a guesting on Triple J Album Of The Year Nominee #1 Dad’s ‘God Can Promise’.

Joining the supreme cast is Melbourne emotional punkers, Ceres, who crashed into 2014 with their cathartic I Don’t Want To Be Anywhere But Herethat almost broke Tone Deaf servers with the advance stream in March.

Of course, this list wouldn’t be complete without Gabe Strum who performs under the moniker Japanese Wallpaper. It’s been an insane year for the hypnotising ambient extraordinare, the high-schooler landing his track ‘Breathe In’ on one of the highest anticipated records of the year.

Leading the charge for Aussie hiphoppers is Perth’s suave-spitting emcee Coin Banks. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve definitely heard the starry-eyed ‘Think Of You‘ that is so damn addictive.

Powerhouse Meg Mac has earned her place in the list of finalists for 2014’s Unearthed. The artist responsible for the uplifting soul-pop ‘Roll Up Your Sleeves‘ has had a massive year, performing festivals around the nation backed by her stellar debut EP MEGMAC.

Last, but definitely not least is lush beats producer, UV Boi. With tracks like ‘THANK U‘ and ‘ghosts‘ this incredibly gifted artist has risen to outstanding heights in 2014.
