Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks Golden Plains Sideshow 2015

The undisputed king of not giving a fuck ’90s indie rock is making his triumphant return to the hallowed grounds of Meredith’s Golden Plains next year, and this time he is bring his team of Jicks.

The outfit released their killer sixth studio LP Wig Out At Jagbags at the very beginning of this year, which spawned one of the biggest tunes of 2014, ‘Lariet’. The band will be performing their effortlessly cool jams from the their large, consistently strong discography, and if you’re lucky, maybe even a Pavement cover too (but don’t hold your breath).

You can’t call yourself a fan of indie rock until you’ve seen Stephen Malkmus perform live.

J Mascis Solo Tour 2015

The Dinosaur Jr frontman is one of, if not the greatest guitarist in the world. Trust us, he is. And if you feel this is up for argument, you’re in luck, because J Mascis is bringing his spellbinding acoustic show to Australian shores once more in 2015 in support of his latest solo record, Tied To  A Star.

The virtuoso will be performing an array hits from both Dinosaur Jr records as well as many from his illustrious solo career, including the staring-at-the-ceiling insomniac track ‘Wide Awake’ that features the one and only Chan Marshall of Cat Power.

Joining J on his national tour is longtime friend Adalita (of Magic Dirt). There’s high chance the pair will deliver another amazing collaboration like 2012’s RocKwiz that saw the legends perform Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks’ ‘Stop Dragging My Heart Around‘.

The Antlers National Tour 2015

The Antlers are the quintessential sound of Brooklyn’s indie rock.

Having released their fifth record Familiars earlier this year, the band have their sound locked-down, assuming a newfound hopefulness with nine sparkling tracks that shimmer with stunning beauty. Armed to the teeth with a grandiose arrangement of sounds that both tower and tumble, The Antlers’ live show is a breath-taking experience unlike any other.

There honestly is nothing quite like the angelic soaring falsetto of Peter Silberman’s vocals paired with the emotionally-charged sonics of Darby Cicci and Michael Lerner.
