The owners of beloved Melbourne record retailer Record Paradise, located at 15 Union St in Brunswick, have taken to their official Facebook page to issue a plea to the thief who stole a new laptop important to store operations to return to the computer.

“Could the person who just removed our new laptop from Record Paradise please return it!” reads a statement on the Paradise Facebook. “We are a small business and struggle week to week to bring you the best selection of local and new and recycled music we can! Please give us a fuckin’ break!”

According to a subsequent comment, the owners “have given details to the Brunswick police” and the Australian Greek Welfare Society, whose head office is located nearby, are taking a look at their CCTV footage to try and obtain an image of the thief.

The owners have thanked fans for their support, adding, “We have created a store where we don’t feel we need cameras or hard core security.”

Previously occupying a storefront in St Kilda, Paradise owners Paul Allen and Renae Maxwell re-located over 33,000 records to a new Brunswick location earlier this year, filling a warehouse with pre-loved vinyl as well as new releases and reissues.

Paradise participated in this year’s Record Store Day celebrations, hosting acoustic performances and signings, and featuring merch, from Deborah Conway & Willy Zygier, Fraser A Gorman, The Morning After Girls, and Courtney Barnett.
