Since gliding into the scene with their swooping tune ‘The Swan‘ back in 2012 followed by the arrival of their eponymous debut record at the start of this year, British four-piece Cheatahs have steadily risen in popularity, drawing well-warranted comparisons to the likes of the recently reformed shoegaze legends, Ride.

Dedicated artists, the guys have toured heavy this year, all the while working on inspiring, fresh material. Gearing up for the release of an extended player, Sunne, Cheatahs have revealed their first single ‘Controller’.

From the moment the symbols and guitars crash together in grand unification, hairs are instantly raised. The simple, echoing guitar tones drive the track as the vocals float in and out of focus, complimenting the dream-like, consuming sonics.

However that’s not to say ‘Controller’ is a “take your brain out and stare out the ground” kinda beat, the track twists and turns from blissful euphoria to rumbling, reverberating deeper tones that reminds all listeners that Cheatahs are not afraid to explore the darker more rock elements of shoegaze, akin to the likes of Swervedriver.

Sunne is set for release February 24, 2015, dig your taste-test of ‘Controller’ below:
