Earlier this year we reported on the barely teenage metal three-piece that miraculously signed a US$1.7 million record deal and now another talented bunch of young rockers are touted to be the next big thing.

The gnarly dudes we speak of are Residual Kid, a trio of teens that produce a manic whirl of blurry sonics and chunky riffs who have caught the attention of Sire Records founder and Warner Bros executive, Seymour Stein, who has signed them to the major label, as Noisey reports.

You read it right, the man that signed the likes of The Ramones and Madonna is a huge fan of the young teens, singing their praise “I was swept off my feet the first time I saw Residual Kid in Austin,” highlighting that they band were performing to a packed-out adult crowd, stating they were “the most refreshing new band I’ve seen at SXSW in several years.” These are the kind of accolades dreams are made of, right?

The Austin-based band comprising of 16-year old singer and guitarist Deven Ivy and brothers Max (bass) and Ben (drums) Redman who are 14 and 16-years old respectively have already their own band manager, performed at the likes of Fun Fun Fun Fest as well as smashing apart New York City’s super hip joint, Babys All Right. If that’s not enough, the boys recorded with guitar virtuoso J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr.

Speaking with Noisey, the guys detailed the heaviest influences which provides zero surprises, “Nirvana, Sonic Youth, AC/DC, Black Sabbath. 13 is definitely the best Black Sabbath album, that’s how we got started.”

Don’t tell us you’re not reminded of a similar aged Daniel Johns back when Silverchair first broke, or the oozing Thurston Moore kool thing vibes let alone their unabashed zero fucks given attitude of Kurt Cobain.
