This year’s instalment of Stereosonic has been marked by incidents both unfortunate and absolutely legendary. We think you’ll agree with us that this video from photographer and Perth native Jarrad Seng falls squarely in the latter category.

When Australia’s premier EDM festival rolled into his hometown over the weekend, Seng applied a fake beard, donned gaudy clothing only an internationally recognised DJ could get away with, and spent three hours impersonating headliner Steve Aoki.

“I get mistaken for Steve Aoki a LOT. It’s been a weekly thing for the past five years… at music festivals, bars, on Instagram… it even happened on the streets of Barcelona once,” writes Seng on his official Facebook page.

“So the other day when I saw that New York catcall video I wondered what would happen if I did the same thing… but dressed as Steve. At Stereosonic. Where he was headlining. This is the dumbest thing I’ve done in a long time…. enjoy.”

And enjoy we did. Seng’s hilarious clip depicts the photographer walking purposefully around the festival grounds as he high-fives, fist-bumps, and even takes selfies with eager and totally clueless punters who can’t believe their luck.

To be fair, Seng did an excellent job of looking like Aoki, and we don’t just mean the false beard. Even his stride suggests someone who is incredibly busy and can’t spend more than a split second helping you gain Instagram cred.

Readers can check out the video below in its glorious entirety. Highlights include Seng walking past the stage where Aoki happened to be performing at the time and a ‘morning after’ clip, during which the con is recounted to Aoki himself during a radio interview.
