Calling all lovers of the kaleidoscopic world of psychedelic rock, the greatest celebration of the sonic technicolor, Austin Psych Fest, has just announced it’s first lineup for 2015 which features three Aussie acts, and trust us, you’ll be dying to attend.

You can fly your musical patriotism flag high at the hallowed grounds of Carson Creek Ranch from May 8 – 10 next year to one of the acts blissful tunes of the headlining act, Perth’s neo-psychedelic kings, Tame Impala.

Since the release of the band’s sophomore record Lonerism back in 2012, we’ve certainly struggled to keep Tame Impala on our shores, the Kevin Parker-led group touring the US endlessly, building an enormous fanbase, it’s no wonder the legends landed such a prestigious position on the bill.

What excitedly shocked us was the announcement that a local Melbourne band Krakatau had locked-in a spot on the lineup. From the intimate stages of Melbourne’s Boney and the like to the ultimate performing platform in Austin, this is a dream come true for the talented prog-rockers who will no doubt charm punters with their hypnotising live show.

The great news doesn’t end there, with Aussie-turn-LA pair The Black Ryder scoring themselves a place on next year’s epic lineup. The duo are no strangers to the Austin Psych Fest stage, having dazzled audiences in years prior.

Our Australian musicians join the ranks of many psych-rock titans including the The Flaming Lips, The Jesus and Mary Chain who will be performing their stellar record Psychocandy, the mind-bending Spiritualised, Scottish legends Primal Scream and the festival’s cornerstone performers, The Black Angels.

There’s also a massive contingent of up-and-coming acts, like the Australia-bound Mac DeMarco and Ty Segall with his (one of many) side projects Fuzz, French dream-pop priestess Melody’s Echo Chamber, heavy-hitters Metz, Californian garage nutcase White Fence as well as a spade of insanely talented smaller artists.

Despite this being only the first announcement, tickets have already gone on sale so if you’re keen to support our locals jump over to Austin Psych Fest and purchase your ticket to paradise.
