Live music is set to return to the Australian Open next year. The biggest date on the Australian tennis calendar will see two big weeks of performances from internationally renowned acts, kicking off with sets from homegrown heroes Sheppard and Megan Washington.

Curated by the Mushroom Group, the Heineken Live Stage on Grand Slam Oval will feature a diverse mix of Australian talent, including tournament favourites Daryl Braithwaite, Jon Stevens, and The Preatures, as well as Boom Crash Opera, Pierce Brothers, and more.

There’s also a very special and yet-to-be-announced guest headlining Heineken Saturday, the middle Saturday of the world famous tournament, which saw 80,219 fans flock to Melbourne Park in 2014. The secret guest is set to be announced Thursday, 1st January, so stay tuned to Tone Deaf.

“Mushroom is once again proud to be involved in such an amazing event as the Australian Open, which combines two of the nation’s favourite things: sport and music,” said Mushroom Group Executive Director Matt Gudinski.

Meanwhile, ARIA Award-winners Sheppard, best known for their mega-hit ‘Geronimo’, expressed their own excitement for the 2015 program. “Being asked to perform at such an iconic event as the Australian Open is definitely a privilege. We are all such big tennis fans and can’t wait to see who wins this year,” said George Sheppard.

Kate Miller-Heidke will headline an all-female lineup on women’s final night, joined by gold record-selling singer-songwriter Lanie Lane and Melody Pool, while Australian music legends Diesel and Joe Camilleri & The Black Sorrows will wrap up the tournament on Sunday, 1st February with a massive performance prior to the men’s final.
