With the popularity of EDM spreading around the world, promoters are constantly trying to find new and more innovative ways to take clubland into the 21st Century. Enter Seadeck, which promises to be Australia’s first ever floating club, if you don’t count the permanently docked Island in Sydney Harbour.

As Stoney Roads reports, Seadeck is a three-storey floating barge, fully decked out with all of the party accoutrements that would be fitting a performance from any world-class DJ, including neon palm trees, a requisite DJ booth, and a seated area, and it will finally make its way into Sydney Harbour in February.

“We are creating an unrivalled 360-degree experience with the iconic Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge as your backdrop and sweeping panoramic views of the Harbour,” operators told Stoney Roads, adding that there are already a number of carefully curated lineups set for the summer.

“Music is an integral part of Seadeck’s ethos with an impressive array of some of the biggest international artists in the world alongside carefully curated lineups of Australia’s best local talent already lined up for the summer season,” the spokesperson added.

According to The Guardian, the 45-metre Seadeck will be based at the Super Yacht Marina, while events will see the boat moor around the harbour, all part of the vision of former Future Music Festival digital and promo manger Scott Robertson, who partnered with restaurateurs Mel Como, Gavin Douchkov and Joseph Ralph, of Double Bay’s Vine, to bring the project to Sydney.
