Earlier this month, Tone Deaf reported on the reaction that Australian electronic duo Peking Duk received when they dropped ‘Sandstorm’, the Eurodance classic from fiery-headed Finnish producer Darude, at the latest instalment of Stereosonic. If you didn’t see it, it was nothing short of epic.

Now, it seems the partying twosome have kickstarted a trend. Having witnessed the incredible reception ‘Sandstorm’ received at Stereosonic, Brisbane garage duo DZ Deathrays recently delighted fans at Falls Festival with their own cover of the 15-year-old dance tune, which got a similarly rave reaction from punters.

Fans will almost certainly get a chance to hear the man himself drop the mega-tune when he touches down in Australia for an appearance at Future Music Festival. Yes, organisers announced earlier this month that they have officially added Darude to their 2015 lineup.

Meanwhile, Falls Festival, which this year features a lineup including the likes of Alt-J, Empire of the Sun, La Roux, Jagwar Ma, Bluejuice, Tkay Maidza, and many more, will continue to rock on into the New Year, assuredly instilling punters with many more happy, non-‘Sandstorm’ related New Year’s memories.
