Friends and family are paying tribute to Nathanial Guymer, the 26-year-old who was found dead during the annual Falls Festival at Byron Bay earlier this week. Tributes have described Guymer as a best friend and joker who was passionate about fitness and always trying to make others laugh.

As Tone Deaf reported earlier this week, police are investigating the death of Guymer, whose body was found at the Falls Festival campsite in the North Byron Parklands. A police spokeswoman at the time said Guymer was found at about 7.30am Wednesday. Police are not treating the case as suspicious.

As the Courier Mail reports, after friends found Guymer unconscious and not breathing on Wednesday morning, frantic attempts to revive the 26-year-old proved unsuccessful. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death and preparing a report for the coroner.

Friend Lauren Hamm said Guymer was like a brother to her, describing him as a “jokester” and adding, “He was a beautiful, genuine person… loving and caring. He was always out to make people laugh, out to make people happy. He didn’t waste a single second of his life. The world lost an incredibly beautiful and caring soul.”

Ms Hamm said Guymer received a huge boost of confidence after losing more than 27kg and winning a north Brisbane nine-week fitness challenge, with a tribute to Guymer posted on the social media page of Darryls Gym, which described him as a “gentle giant who loved hard heavy training”.

“In the gym, he achieved what so many can’t do – maintain enormous strength whist losing crazy amounts of bodyfat. He applauded good technique and encouraged beginners. Your strength in and out of the gym will be remembered,” read the tribute to Guymer, who’d recently moved in with his long-term girlfriend who was in attendance at the festival.
