Summer is upon us and already we are feeling the harsh effects of the season on our sunburnt country. Just last night, iiNet customers across Australia found themselves offline for six-and-a-half hours after the company shut down systems at its Perth data centre due to high temperatures which topped 44.4C.

While a lack of internet is the kind dire situation we never want to find ourselves in, we here at Tone Deaf are far more concerned with what could potentially happen to our fragile vinyl, should the mercury in the Tone Deaf offices hit such ungodly levels.

Luckily, the good folks over at Polyester Records harbour the same concerns and have prepared a handy Public Service Announcement packed with tips that will help you keep your precious vinyl cool during what is inarguably its most trying time of year.

Suggestions include simple things, like keeping your vinyl in the freezer (or an oven, if your collection falls for the whole reverse psychology thing), as well as more subtle and creative options, all of which will ensure you don’t one day come home to a depressing-looking black puddle that used to be your pride and joy.
