Keeping with their usual MO, Enter Shikari have come out of the 2015 gate swinging, recently unveiling their latest thrill-ride of a music video for ‘Anaesthetist’, taken from the band’s highly anticipated new album The Mindsweep, which comes out Friday, 16th January.

One of the St Albans quartet’s most fan-anticipated new pieces of music, ‘Anaesthetist’ saw its live debut in the UK during the band’s most recent stint at Reading / Leeds festivals, before a hearty airing during their main stage spot on Warped Tour in the USA last summer.

According to vocalist and lyricist Rou Reynolds, ‘Anaesthetist’ is an unashamed attack on those who would dismantle our NHS in the name of corporate greed and Tory economic ideology. “We seem to have reached a stage of such capitalistic fervour, that we believe it acceptable to punish people for ill health,” he explained.

“By charging for healthcare we act as if illness is nothing but one’s own problem, but what is the purpose and advantage of ‘civilisation’ if it is not helping the most vulnerable within society? The lottery of birth can offer us a wealth of bad luck when it comes to our health and the safety nets are being pulled in as the desire to boost profit overtakes the desire to help people.”
