What do you think would be a surefire way to break into the US mainstream? An endorsement from Ellen DeGeneres on her show? Yep, sounds pretty bloody good, and for one Aussie musician, this dream piece of promotion just became a reality.

Ellen DeGeneres warmly welcomes our very own Chet Faker to her stage yelling, “I wanted to start the new year off with one of my favourite artists he is an amazing singer-song writer from Australia” which sees a slick-haired Faker clapping into his hit ‘Gold’.

The bearded Melbournian looked more than comfortable for someone who was performing to millions upon millions of viewers around the globe,  soulfully crooning his way through the pop jam. The most heart-warming moment of this video, outside of Faker’s killer performance, is when Ellen runs to the stage and gives our main man a hug as she yells “I love it!”

This is a massive start for Faker’s 2015, who is currently in the US for a promotional tour before returning to Australia to play his biggest headline tour yet, which if you don’t mind, includes a staggering four shows at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre and two at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion.

Faker is also coming off a mega 2014, not only was his debut record Built On Glass named as Triple J’s Album of the Year, the album was also unanimously heralded by Aussie publications (including our own reader’s poll) as the best record of 2014.
