Caligula’s Horse is an Australian powerhouse, delivering progressive rock that seamlessly blends grand technicality with raw honesty. Such a commanding sound immediately comes through on “A Gift To Afterthought”, the first track off of the band’s latest critically acclaimed release, The Tide, the Thief & River’s End. The track’s grand liveliness is further captured in a new video recently premiered by Revolver Magazine.

Filmed at The New Globe Theatre in Brisbane by director Adrian Goleby, Caligula’s Horse aimed to make a video that visually interpreted the energy and interaction of its live show. “The mindset of this video was to build the entire production around showing what we do live, down to bringing in our touring lighting and visual technicians and giving them free reign,” shares guitarist Sam Vallen. Helping the group and crew maintain momentum on set were their fans, many of whom flocked to the venue after less than a day’s notice to partake in the video. “Probably the most memorable moment was between takes, when everyone was chugging down Red Bull and soaked in sweat, Will Hunter and Eric Jinks (our lighting and visual technicians respectively) cranked Darude’s Sandstorm through the PA with a spot-on light show. It was like everyone in the crowd was in on the joke, and the theatre became a dance club for 10 minutes.”
