When it was announced that Wu-Tang icon and hip-hop legend Ghostface Killah and Toronto nu-jazz trio BadBadNotGood would be collaborating on a full-length release, the hip-hop world was spun into a tizzy. Now, after much anticipation, the unlikely pairing has shared a new track taken from their forthcoming collaborative album, ‘Ray Gun’, which features hip-hop’s premier super-villain MF DOOM.

The latest track follows on from previous singles ‘Six Degrees’, a collaboration with modern rap oddball Danny Brown, and ‘Gunshowers’, which featured an appearance from “Detroit’s Best Kept Secret”, Elzhi, both of which were released before the new year. All three will appear on Sour Soul, which is due to land on Monday, 23rd February via Lex Records.

With BadBadNotGood leading the charge with a chilled-out, lounge jazz beat, ‘Ray Gun’ is oddly reminiscent of Ghostface Killah’s early solo work and the crackly loops that characterise so much of DOOM’s output. Both Ghostface and DOOM are given ample time to flex their respective lyrical muscle, each sounding as sharp as ever, before the track explodes with trumpets and wild drumming.
