The latest edition of Black Bear Lodge’s live session comes courtesy of Brisbane’s very own talented singer songwriter Dom Miller.

The stripped back ‘Oh My Darlin” is a Miller original and is based on the true story of one of the musician’s family friend, a man from New Zealand who was “a professional mountaineer doing his last ever climb of Everest. His wife was at home pregnant with their first child and this was his last big climb before he settled down with his family. The climb was all going well and they reached the final stage.

They knew a storm was coming but thought they would have enough time to get to the peak and back down before it set in. They got to the top but on the way down the storm rolled in. As the storm raged, he sat there and realised he wasn’t going to make it through the night. He had a satellite phone so he picked it up and called his wife back in New Zealand to say goodbye. This song is based on that conversation.”
