Is the Suck Kut of life sucking your will to live? Feel like doing something extraordinary? Something big? Something mega? Something copious? Something capacious? Something cajunga? Then make sure you stop by Sydney’s most excellent pop-up bar (after you hit up Stan Mikita’s Doughnuts, of course).

If you haven’t figured it out yet, three Sydney bartenders are getting together to open up a Wayne’s World-themed pop-up bar. As Concrete Playground reports, Ben Blair, Reece Griffiths, and Lee Potter Cavanagh (all ex-Victoria Room) are decking out their temporary bar, Whisky Jerx, in pure Wayne’s World style.

The project was made possible after the trio won 2014’s nationwide Monkey Shoulder competition. The prize included stock, marketing support, and cashola to start your own pop-up. Theirs will run from 18th – 22nd April over both floors of Oxford Circus, previously the home of the Gay Bar and Ruby Rabbit.

The top level will remain the same as it ever was, while the party time will be had on the lower floor, which will be made to look just like Wayne Campbell’s basement from the imperishable 1992 film Wayne’s World and the 1993 sequel. If that doesn’t make you go ‘Schwing!’, we don’t know what will.

“Essentially we’re taking inspiration from the soda jerks from back in the day, that’s where the name comes from. It’s a little bit tongue-in-cheek,” Cavanagh told Australian Bartender. “We all had similar interests growing up, you know, we all liked rock and roll, we were all in bands, so we wanted to reference that as well.”

“The music is pretty much inspired by the Wayne’s World era and our youths, so rock and roll, some punk — not this country, Americana worship,” he added. Just think, you’ll be looking down at Wayne’s basement, but… that’s not Wayne’s basement – isn’t that weird?
