With the dates and venue for the highly anticipated return of Splendour In The Grass slated for this July, the only thing on anybody’s mind is that all-important lineup. If past years are anything to go by, it’s sure to be epic, and it looks like we have our first official lead in UK funk master Mark Ronson.

Speaking recently to Triple J while in the country for an exclusive DJ set at Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory, Ronson fuelled speculation that he could be returning to Australia for a full tour later in 2015. “Well, I just blew 300 grand on a Kevin Parker hologram so I’m really hoping this thing works,” he joked.

Asked directly about the possibility of returning for Splendour in July, the super-producer told Matt and Alex on the station’s Breakfast program yesterday, “I can neither confirm nor deny any of these rumours. If I can figure out a great show, I’m going to be here – that’s what I know for sure.”

Ronson’s only Australian appearance was presented by Secret Sounds, the promoters and bookers of Splendour In The Grass, who have a history of bringing out acts for short teaser tours early in the year to whet appetites for a Splendour appearance. Similar tours were booked for Sky Ferreira and Mikhael Paskalev last year.

The Splendour 2015 rumour mill was recently kickstarted by the release of the lineup for Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, which often shares acts with Splendour. Last year, the two festivals swapped some 10 acts, including Splendour headliners Outkast and Lily Allen, as well as Foster The People, Kelis, and more.

Featuring on this year’s initial Fuji Rock announcement are Foo Fighters, Muse, The Bohicas, Cero, FKA twigs, Happy Mondays, Of Monsters and Men, Sheena Ringo, and Todd Rundgen. While asking for two visits from stadium giants Foo Fighters in one year may be a bit of a stretch, the other names are all fair contenders for a Splendour appearance.
