Hilltop Hoods have been on something of a roll lately. Since unveiling their highly acclaimed seventh studio album, Walking Under Stars, last year, they’ve been enjoying plenty of praise, successful tour dates, top-three spots in the Triple J Hottest 100, and even an ARIA Award for Best Urban Album.

It’s that last accolade that recently had the crew taking to social media to share an interesting and somewhat awkward photo. Well, awkward if you happen to be the person in charge of getting the ARIA Awards mailed out to the right artists.

If you’re playing catch up, artists traditionally don’t keep the statues handed to them on awards night. They hold them while they give their acceptance speeches and maybe for a little while backstage. Afterwards they’re seized and then taken to be buffed and engraved with the right names and categories.

Afterwards, they’re mailed out to the respective artists, which is where the Hilltop Hoods’ latest social media share comes in. The group were probably very excited to finally receive their ARIA Award in the mail, but if their latest post on Facebook is to be believed, while they did receive an ARIA Award, it wasn’t actually theirs.

“Thanks for sending over the ARIA, [Universal Music Australia],” the band wrote on social media, “but I’m pretty sure that this one isn’t ours. Hahahahaha.” Accompanying the post was a photo of what appeared to be a shiny ARIA Award that had been engraved for Breakthrough Artist Iggy Azalea and her debut, The New Classic.

So far, Iggy, who is also signed to Universal Music, has not taken to her respective social media channels to share a picture of her new ARIA for Best Urban Album, but we’re hoping she’ll soon do just that or the hunt will be on to find just where the hell Hilltop Hoods’ ARIA Award has gotten to.
