Everyone’s favourite Newcastle garage rockers have some sad news: in a few months they’re adopting out their cat, putting on some clothes and getting off to the USA indefinitely to record and tour extensively.
But before the duo jet sets back to the USA for SXSW, they’ll be hitting up some of their favourite venues across Australia to relive their Australian Dream and have planned some mind-blowing line-ups to celebrate! Including a double headliner in Sydney and their hometown of Newcastle (and according to them, the best city in the world!) with legends, Straight Arrows.
We know they’ll miss us as much as we’re going to miss them, and to celebrate (read: mourn) their US relocation we chatted tot he band about some of the things they’ll miss about Australia most.
The City Of Newcastle
“We love living in Newy and we’ll miss this place. We were born and bred here and are both super homely people so it’s a big leap for us to move so far away from home.
We both talk to our parents every day and only live a few km from them. That makes it sound like they all live together in a big house, but that would be mega weird!!! Different houses! But both are nearby and it will be weird to not have them calling to ask how “the gig went” or to talk about the surf.”
Aussie Accents
“You don’t realise how much you miss it until you don’t hear it every day. But then you do and it’s like “is that what we all sound like???”
Vegemite
“Although we’re gonna try and take a big industrial sized bucket of it with us. Our new (American) housemate likes it too so he’ll be stoked!”
Talkin’ Shit
“Being able to say things like “stoked” and have people understand what you are saying. That goes for “heaps”, “bogan”, “k’noath”, “reckon” and all the other Aussie slang we didn’t realise we said so much until we were in the US last time. So many confused faces just politely smiling and nodding!”
The Beaches
“Best in the world (despite our beaches in Newy being choc-a-block full of sharks right now)!”
Dee Dee
“Our cat Dee Dee. He’s our best mate. He’s already over at “the grandparents” and has settled in completely, being so spoilt and ruling their household just like he did here.”
Fans
“And last but definitely not least, our FANS!!! We love youse guys and will miss playing to you all. But we wont be gone forever!”
