Since the release of his breakthrough album, Immunity in 2013,  British producer Jon Hopkins has been one of the most acclaimed and popular electronic acts today, so it only makes sense that he’ll be latest musician to curate a Late Night Tales release.

Late Night Tales is a long-running mixtape series invites artists to create their own “ultimate ‘late night’ selection,” with each collection featuring an exclusive cover song by the curator. For his collection, Hopkins decided to cover American experimental rockers Yeasayer’s track ‘I Remember’. A classical pianist by training (having studied at Royal College of Music in London) Hopkins has stripped back the Odd Blood cut and turned ‘I Remember’ into a gorgeous slow burning piano ballad.

Hopkins explained the curation process for his edition of Late Night Tales “Putting this album together was a unique opportunity for me to present music that I have been listening to for years, free from the constraints of a club setting or from trying to stick to one genre. I chose tracks not just because they have been important to me but because of how they sit together, putting as much thought into the transitions and overall narrative as I did into the track choices. I mixed by key and by texture more than anything else, using original sound design, pivot notes, and often recording new synth or piano parts to link things together in a way that flows as naturally as possible.”

Jon Hopkins Late Night Tales is out March 6th, for more info visit www.latenighttales.co.uk.
