It looks like another act may have just outed themselves for a spot at the eagerly anticipated 2015 return of Splendour In The Grass. Speaking recently to Triple J, UK indie outfit The Wombats confirmed that they would be making their way back to Australia in July.

Currently in the country for a super quick promo tour, playing just two last-minute shows in Sydney and Melbourne this week, the band stopped by the youth broadcaster this morning to discuss new album Glitterbug and whether we can expect them back in the country this year.

“We’re coming back in July,” said drummer Dan Haggis. For the uninitiated, Splendour 2015 is set to kick off on Friday, 24th July, going into Saturday 25th, and finishing up on Sunday, 26th July, taking place at its new home in the festival hub of Byron Bay.

After multi-isntrumentalist Tord Øverland Knudsen realised that his bandmate may have just revealed too much, he quickly interjected, “That was a secret, we weren’t supposed to say that.” If the band does indeed make the Splendour cut, it will be their second time playing the event.

The band played Splendour back in 2008, as well as Falls Festival in 2013, and it just so happens that they have a convenient gap in their tour dates right when Splendour is expected to go down. The lineup is expected to drop in the coming months so we’ll find out then.

Strengthening rumours that the band will play Splendour is the fact that acts playing the festival often make quick stops in the country early in the year to create buzz. This was previously done with Sky Ferreira and Mikhael Paskalev last year.
