A couple of weeks back video footage emerged of The Smith Street Band letting loose on a security guard who man-handled a fan at their show, and after the epic weekend of live music at Soundwave, another more horrific incident has occurred.

Performing in the afternoon at Brisbane’s leg of Soundwave over the weekend, pop-punk favourites Tonight Alive’s set shockingly saw one punter be held to the ground, choked by security which resulted in frontwoman Jenna McDougall pleading the guards get off him, as Musicfeeds reports.

McDougall took this very personally, having stated that she herself had invited fans on-stage to give her a high-five, and when this particular eager punter made attempts to jump up onto the stage, he was forcibly taken down and restrained by multiple guards.

Video footage online shows McDougall stop performing, calmly saying “he’s cool, he’s cool, let him go, it’s my fault”before actually jumping off the stage to confront the three guards pinning  the punter to the ground, pulling at the security as the choke the punter yelling “let him up, he’s cool.”

Thankfully the guards listen, and let the fan up, and despite no doubt being shit-scared a little sore, he both high-fives and hugs McDougall who apologises to security and then kicks straight back into the tune, all the while the crowd are going mental, screaming obscenities at security.

McDougall has since Tweeted about the incident, “Security are hired to protect.. Not to tackle, choke hold, push or physical assault our fans. Im extremely disappointed.”

However, being the legend that she is, wrote the following, “Having said that. I realise this abuse of power does not apply to all security & was
grateful for the respect & care taken in Melb & Adel.”

Fans, shocked and outraged by what happened have utilised Twitter to reach out to festival organiser AJ Maddah, who defended his guards calling them “the most awarded company in Australia” however asking any punter that witnesses any incident such as to note down the security guard’s badge number.

Soundwave wrapped its final couple of days this weekend just passed, which looks to be the last time the heavier-hitting music extravaganza will take up two days per city, as well as the high uncertainty of returning to Adelaide at all.
