TuxedoTuxedo

Label: Inertia
Release Date: 6th March
Pre-Order: iTunes

The Tuxedo Funk EP got absolutely everyone talking and now Tuxedo, the much-lauded collaboration between Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One, is the eagerly anticipated full-length effort, filled with the kind of smooth, synth-heavy funk with a classy, tongue-in-cheek edge that first turned heads back in 2013. The album is slated for release on Friday, 6th March and the band have already unveiled the first single to be taken from the album, titled ‘Number One’.

The first single is a deftly crafted dance floor banger inspired by Snoop Dogg’s classic, ‘Ain’t No Fun’, from 1993’s Doggystyle. As Tuxedo explain, “We always wondered what the original sample was for ‘Ain’t No Fun’. Since we couldn’t figure it out, we decided we would make it.” It’s this kind of creative flair that make Tuxedo one of the most talked-about collaborations in recent memory and what will surely make their debut album something listeners return to for years to come.

Death Cab For Cutie – Kintsugi

Label: Warner
Release Date: 27th March
Pre-Order: www.warnermusic.com.au
Many things have changed in the Death Cab For Cutie camp since 2011’s Codes and Keys. Most notably, the band lost founding guitarist/keyboardist/producer Chris Walla. But if there’s one thing that Death Cab have always been able to do, it’s take loss and channel it into memorably, heartfelt, and expressive songs that quickly find a place in the hearts of fans and newcomers alike.

It seems as though Kintsugi, named after the Japanese art of repairing broken ceramics with precious metals, is poised to do the same. Recorded in Los Angeles with Rich Costey, who previously worked his magic with notables like Franz Ferdinand, Muse, and Interpol, the band’s eagerly anticipated eighth studio album is slated to arrive in Australia on 27th March.
