Following up their 2014 sold out performances at the Sydney Festival, Japanese ‘death jazz’ six piece Soil & Pimp Sessions have returned to Australia this month for performances at Perth International Arts Festival, WOMADelaide, Golden Plains Festival and an intimate show at Melbourne’s Bennetts Lane.

TO coincide with their return, the guys have also released a ‘hits’ album titled “X” Chronicle of SOIL &”PIMP“SESSIONS (out now locally via Rubber Records), and from it comes the single we’re premiering today ‘First Lady’.

Building a worldwide reputation off the back of their pulsating live performances, the explosive Japanese jazz band combine the highest musicianship with the coolest of cool sounds and atmosphere. Their brand of jazz is rough around the edges, unadulterated entertainment and constantly kept at boiling point.

Formed after meeting at a club event in Tokyo in 2001, the band took the The Tokyo club (which was dominated by DJs)scene by storm, breaking the mould as live pioneers and they quickly gained recognition for performing an original form of aggressive alternative jazz, don’t miss these guys while they’re back in the country!
