It’s no secret that Lamb of God are fans of Melbourne outfit Sydonia. The affair began when frontman Randy Blythe heard the dulcet progressive sounds of the Victorian metallers in a St Kilda record shop. He promptly invited the band to join Lamb of God on tour in 2007.

While in the country recently as part of Soundwave Festival, Blythe got together with Sydonia frontman Sam Haycroft to record the most terrifying rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star you will ever hear. No, really, this thing will haunt your dreams.

In the video below you will see Blythe and Haycroft both sporting black metal corpse paint, with Blythe in a skeleton costume and Haycroft in a high-vis vest and pilot’s goggles, taking on the children’s classic in a charmingly stripped-down, xylophone and guitar rendition that is horrifying.

Blythe and Haycroft play around with the lyrics, resulting in lines like, “Up above the world so high, like a needle in your eye“, and what we must admit are some genuinely funny punchlines, which would make us laugh if we weren’t creeped out by the whole thing.

The clip comes shortly after Blythe told Richmond Magazine that he is currently composing a ballet, choreographed by his friend Matthew Frain, a member of the Richmond Ballet in Virginia. Blythe said he took inspiration from other multi-disciplinary frontmen like Nick Cave, Henry Rollins, and David Yow.
