Australia has seen the introduction of two new independent record label this January and February respectively however sadly this trend has not continued in March, with a treasured label announcing that it is shutting-up shop.

Melbourne-based and artist-ran Two Bright Lakes revealed on their Facebook late last week that after eight years of operations, they will no longer be releasing new music through the label.

The label responsible for releasing the likes of some of Australia’s favourite indie artists including Banoffee, Oscar Key Sung, The Harpoons, Collarbones and many more noted that although it will no longer release any new music, it will continue to release music through a new independent venture, Little Lakes Records.

In addition to this, Two Bright Lakes will still support all their current releases back catalogue digitally and physically (where available) via both Remote Control and Inertia.

The lengthy and heartfelt post goes on to thank the music community at large for their continuing support and appreciation of the fine indie label, and because nobody likes goodbyes, Two Bright Lakes have decided to throw a huge farewell party instilling only positive vibes, the group posting the following, “To celebrate eight years of Two Bright Lakes, we have decided to go out the way we came, with a big party for ‘all our friends to go bang’. Featuring performances by many of Two Bright Lakes current and alumni roster, it’s going to be a night to remember on April 10th at Schoolhouse Studios, with more details to be announced in the coming weeks.”

If you’re looking for one last hoorah with the Two Bright Lakes crew, keep your eyes out for their party at Schoolhouse Studios on April 10.
