Remember earlier this year when Beck took home the Grammy for Best Album of the Year that spawned this so wrong and therefore so hilarious meme about “song-writers”? It looked a little something like this:

As Digital Music News reports, it appears the creator of that stupid meme isn’t the only one who wants to have a misinformed rant about “sole song-writers”.

(Re)Introducing Marina Diamandis aka Marina and the Diamonds, the UK indie-pop songstress who gained fame with her catchy records The Family Jewels and Electra Heart, and has recently thrown some fairly outrageous comments about the music industry into the stratosphere for you all to have a chuckle at, which shockingly coincides with the release of her third record, Froot.

Diamandis spoke with the BBC about her forthcoming album, detailing the interesting promotional campaign she has been working on, as well as commenting on the fact that she is the only person completely writing her own music within the industry.

Nup, this isn’t a joke, Diamandis actually said the following, “Why am I the only artist on a major label that has written a whole album by themselves? I think that’s weird. That’s weird.”

She then noted that she wants to disrupt the apparent co-dependent status-quo of how artists write songs, “I want to change the culture of all these bullshit co-writes where no-one’s saying anything. I want to inspire people.”

So there you have it, apparently Marina Diamandis is the only musician currently signed to a major label that is completely writing their own material – the rest of the major artists can’t seem to pen a whole LP without the aid of others. Pretty interesting comments considering the aforementioned Beck did write the entirety of Morning Phase and that was released on Capitol.
