One of Melbourne’s most favourite and sought-after celebrations of live music, the Poison City Weekender, is returning for its seventh year of mayhem this September, boasting of an incredible lineup of both national and international bands.

Touted to be “the biggest ever”, the Weekender will be held from 4 – 6 September, headlined by the one and only local favourites The Smith Street Band, who have only continued to charm hearts by protecting their fans from security to telling the Prime Minister to “wipe that shit-eating grin off his punchable face“, as well as other Poison City label mates The Bennies, Clowns and Luca Brasi.

There’s also a huge contingency of international artists, including Long Island anthemic rockers Iron Chic, rising Philadelphia bummer-punks Modern Baseball, Phoenix’s anti-folk idols Andrew Jackson Jihad, genre and format benders Self Defense Family, and Ohio power pop foursome The Sidekicks, all making their first trip down under.

That’s not all, with The Meanies, Deep Heat, Mere Women, Batpiss, The Sugarcanes and Georgia Maq adding to what’s assured to be an epic weekend of live music.

Poison City Weekender 2015 only gets better this year, organisers having set up a gig under 18s as well as spreading shows out of over a number of treasured Melbourne venues including: 170 Russell Street, The Public Bar, Corner Hotel, The Old Bar and The Reverence Hotel.

The full lineup for each venue will be announced in coming days, tickets go on sale Friday 17 April and are available through Corner Hotel and Poison City.
