Beloved Melbourne metal outfit King Parrot are appealing to fans for help after their tour van was broken into and a week’s worth of “show and merch payments” was stolen. The incident occurred in Chicago, where the band was performing as part of their current US tour with Weedeater.

“Last night our van got broken into in Chicago,” the band wrote on Facebook. “We lost a week of show and merch payments along with some valuable personal items. Stupid… Yeah we know.” Accompanying the statement was a photo of the van with a window smashed and glass covering the interior.

The band have opened a PayPal account for anyone wishing to donate and help the band recover from the incident. “Any friends that can make a donation to help us recover what we’ve lost would be greatly appreciated,” the band wrote.

Readers who wish to donate can send any contributions to “[email protected]” and the band have promised fans that any donations totalling “$20 and over” will receive “an exclusive gift from the band”.

Donations have apparently begun flooding in already, with some fans sharing screenshots of contributions ranging in the hundreds of dollars. The band have expressed their gratitude to fans, writing, “Thanks to everyone who has donated so far. We love you!”

“We couldn’t do it without you and your support means everything to us. THANK YOU SO MUCH!” added the Melbourne group, who announced details of their new album, Dead Set, recorded in New Orleans with former Panter frontman Phil Anselmo, last month.
