Music festivals have proven fertile ground for some pretty ridiculous, awkward, and even offensive attire in the past. We all remember when Aunty Meredith put a ban on Native American headdresses, an unfortunately ubiquitous item at many festivals.

However, this guy takes the cake for absolutely bone-headed, ill-advised, attention-seeking, and downright offensive music festival wear, and the internet seems to agree. It doesn’t take long to figure out just why this unidentified punter is copping so much slack.

An image of an anonymous young man grinning happily whilst donning T-shirt reading “Eat, Sleep, Rape, Repeat” and gesturing to the camera, taken during this weekend’s Coachella festival, has pretty much everyone with a moral conscience in uproar.

Jemayel Khawaja, managing editor of Vice’s dance music offshoot Thump, posted the photo on Twitter, writing, “This guy wins the award for worst fashion/lifestyle choices at Coachella. I’m not easy to offend, but this is shitty.”

Twitter was quickly flooded with messages calmly criticising the man’s choice of attire (and his apparent decision to manufacture it, because we don’t know where you would even get such a horrible shirt), and others that basically called for his blood.

“I bet your mom would be so proud of you wearing a shirt promoting rape,” wrote one user, with many others echoing the sentiment and calling the T-shirt “disgusting”. Others meanwhile, were less reserved: “Anybody wearing a ‘Eat. Sleep. Rape. Repeat.’ T-shirt deserves to get their ass kicked six ways through Sunday.”
