If you’re one of those very lucky few who have in their possession a ticket to see Morrissey at Sydney’s Vivid festival, you may find yourself signing a petition against a major Australian clothing group.

Bound for Aussie shores this May for a string of shows at the Sydney Opera House, the outspoken former-Smiths frontman has hit out against The Just Group for their continued use of angora rabbit wool, a material that has been synonymous with animal cruelty, claiming that he’ll be setting up petition booths for fans at each of his four gigs if they don’t stop the using the wool, as Daily Mail reports.

The company whom owns the likes of popular retailers Just Jeans, Portmans and Peter Alexander still sell apparel that are made from the controversial wool, Morrissey, shocked to discovered this, stated the following, “I’m looking forward to my concerts at the Sydney Opera House in May, but I was extremely dismayed to learn from my friends at PETA Australia that The Just Group refuse to modernise and drop angora wool from their clothing lines.

“By selling angora wool, you’re sending the message to millions of shoppers that your company condone the barbaric abuse and slaughter of rabbits and are willing to perpetuate it.

“Please let me hear from you that you will drop angora from your products” he said, before warning “otherwise, I will urge concert-goers to sign PETA Australia’s petition to your company at their information booths at my four sold-out shows.”

According to Moz, the majority of Australian fashion retailers including Jeanswest, General Pants, Sportsgirl, Myer and David Jones have all pledged against the use of angora wool.

Despite being contacted by multiple news sources on Morrissey’s open-letter, The Just Group are yet to make any response nor changes to their current clothing practices, meaning we very well may see anti-The Just Group petition booths outside the Sydney Opera House from 26 – 31 May.
