The promoters of Groovin The Moo, Down Under’s favourite rural touring festival, which is currently rolling through country Australia, have issued a statement addressing concerned fans who fear their upcoming Maitland event could be cancelled due to extreme weather hitting the region.

Maitland has been hit particularly hard by the storms and flooding currently affecting New South Wales, with forecasts predicting more wild weather in the coming days. However, organisers say they are committed to seeing the festival go ahead.

“Maitland is still going ahead,” organisers wrote on the official Groovin The Moo Facebook account. “We are working closely with our stakeholders to revise planning in those areas of the event that have been affected by weather.”

“At this stage, those areas are minimal. Stay connected to our Facebook page for any updated event messages and perhaps invest in some gumboots.” The festival is set to go down at the Maitland Showground on Saturday, 9th May.

The travelling festival kicked off this past weekend with events in Oakbank and Bunbury, which featured headline performances from Hilltop Hoods and Flight Facilities, as well as appearances from Tkay Maidza, DMA’s, You Me At Six, Ball Park Music, and Peace.

Groovin The Moo is slated to hit Bendigo and Canberra this weekend before finishing up in Maitland next week. While the event in Oakbank, South Australia did experience wild weather and forced patrons to trudge through the muddy festival grounds, the Bunbury event went off without a hitch – check out photos here.

Hey Guys MAITLAND is still going ahead. We are working closely with our stakeholders to revise planning in those areas…
