Every year, Vivid Music @ Seymour is one of the highlights of Vivid Sydney, the city’s annual celebration of music, culture, and lights. This year will be no different, as organisers have lined up another compelling programme of events.

In conjunction with the University of Sydney, the Seymour Centre will become a precinct of Vivid Sydney laying host to a series of exciting events that engage with cutting edge creative inspiration and expression.

Gothic, a musical exploration of the concept of ‘gothic’ by award-winning Sydney composer Andrée Greenwell, is the first of the two centrepieces for the event, featuring songs that weave folk, contemporary classical, and post-punk music styles.

Greenwell has brought together a stellar ensemble for the event, with a string quartet accompanied by Andrée and soprano Julia County, with cinematic/electro sound design by celebrated producer David Trumpmanis.

Meanwhile, Vivid Music @ Seymour will host a global first event, Musify+Gamify, a unique presentation that focuses on the spaces where music play and game meet, this experience is not merely about video game music – it explores the whole concept of interactive design.

“Musify+Gamify will bring together local and international artists, reflecting on their relationship to musical and gameplay experiences,” said curator Ollie Brown. “[It] will engage musicians and composers in the ways that music is becoming increasingly a tool in interactive experience design, from ringtones to reality TV scores.”
