Today marks one year since the ABC welcomed another member into its extensive radio family. We speak, of course, of Double J, which was famously christened with the sounds of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds’ ‘Get Ready For Love’ one year ago today.

Since then, the station has played over 117,800 songs, spanning a raft of different genres and styles. How many? You can see for yourself. To celebrate the occasion, Double J have put together an infographic covering some of the stats from the last 12 months.

It includes some interesting and even surprising factoids. For example, more than a quarter of music played on Double J in its first year was Australian. This includes acts like Mia Dyson, who came in the station’s Top Three Most Played Songs and took out the inaugural Double J Australian Artist of the Year J Award.

Among the most played Aussie artists in Double J’s first year of music was Chet Faker, Angus & Julia Stone, Missy Higgins, Something For Kate, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, while the likes of Beck, Caribou, Future Islands, St. Vincent, The Black Keys and Bjork were among the most spun international artists.

However, what’s perhaps most surprising is that the station’s playlist has featured mostly newer music. While many listeners expected to hear classic tracks from their youth, almost 70 percent of the station’s playlist was made up of releases from this decade.
