Flight Facilities have been going from strength to strength over the past 12 months, but now they’re set to take their fans on a journey like they’ve never before experienced. This October, the Aussie duo will touch down in Melbourne for a performance with the Symphony Orchestra.

This one night only event, set under the stars of the outdoor amphitheatre at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, will see Flight Facilities fully immersing their audience in a recreation of their five-year journey to their acclaimed debut album, Down To Earth.

In their only Melbourne show for 2015, Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell will take the stage with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for an unprecedented trip through their catalogue of singles and remixes, plus some newly written orchestral elements and a spectacular videoscape, in a world premiere performance.

“Long before making Clair de Lune, we’ve both shared a love for classical music,” said Hugo and James. “Playing alongside an orchestra was almost inconceivable when we started Flight Facilities, but now we’ve been given the chance to collaborate and perform with one of Australia’s greatest.”

As part of the 2015 Melbourne Festival, this very special event will see Hugo and James rearrange tracks such as Sunshine and Two Bodies for a unique outdoor orchestral collaboration guaranteed to be an all killer, no filler performance.

“We’re taking on the challenge of reinventing not only the way we approach our live show, but our original pieces of music, too. For us, the opportunity to have Melbourne Symphony Orchestra reinterpret the contemporary as classical, can only be described as ‘a dream come true,’” said the pair.

The full program for this year’s Melbourne Festival, along with the special guests set to Flight Facilities, will be announced on Tuesday, 4th August.
