Tame Impala have been slowly drip-feeding fans tracks from their eagerly anticipated new album, Currents, for several weeks now and the spoils have been oh so sweet. The band have just shared a new tune called ‘Eventually’ and you can hear it below in all its glory.

Speaking recently to Under The Radar, Parker explained that ‘Eventually’ was a break-up song that he came up with while riding around his hometown of Perth on a friend’s scooter.

“The song is about knowing that you’re about to damage someone almost irreparably, and the only consolation you get is this distant hope that they’ll be alright eventually, because you know they aren’t going to be now or soon,” he said.

“It’s like ‘Fuck!’ That’s all I remember. I was on the back of the scooter and the wind was rushing through me. I guess I can’t really deny [that it’s a breakup song], but at the same time I like songs to be ambiguous.”

“I hate to say that a song is about this and you must interpret it this way, because one of the cool things is to hear someone’s interpretation of one of your songs that’s completely different,” Parker continued.

“That’s when you feel like you’ve done something that belongs not just to you. That’s when you feel like your music belongs to the world.” During the interview, Parker also spoke about the meaning behind several other Currents songs.

The prolific frontman revealed that previously released album track ”Cause I’m A Man’ is about “how weak men are” and that the swirling, eight-minute epic ‘Let It Happen’ was “finding yourself always in this world of chaos”.

The band have also confirmed album details recently leaked online by sharing the link to a Currents pre-order page. Tame Impala’s third full-length will feature 13-tracks, spin for about 51 minutes, and will be released on Friday, 17th July.
