Australia’s very own pop-folk pride ‘n joy, Vance Joy, made recent history in smashing the record for the longest single in the ARIA charts, notably for his debut entry with the infectious ‘Riptide’, knocking-off Lady Gaga with her smash-hit, ‘Pokerface’.

With all the excitement of Joy bringing the title back to Australia shores, music historian and author Gavin Ryan compiled a list of the 15 highest charting singles in ARIA chart history (via Noise 11 ) so that we can all see just who else Vance Joy is sitting above.

A few little tidbit teasers from the list, there’s a whole lot of pop, a fairly mixed bag of nationalities, the “oldest” song was only released in 2006 and sorry, Katy Perry appears three times.
