Want to own one of Australia’s most iconic live music venues? Get the cheque book ready, ’cause here’s your chance.

Sydney’s intimate performance space, The Vanguard, is up for sale, with the current owners looking for the right buyer to do the venue true justice, as The Music writes.

The current keyholders of the establishment have worked fastidiously over the past few years creating their own revered burlesque and theatre productions, and due to such a popular demand, they’re taking these shows on the international road – thus, deciding it’s their time to end their tenure and pass the torch to a worthy publican/s.

The Vanguard’s present owner Russall Beattie noted of their selling intentions, “We have had such an amazing experience running this place, there is really no where else like it in Sydney, but the time has come for us to move on, we hope to find someone who has the passion to keep this place true to its name.”

First swinging open its doors in 2003, the 1920s New Orleans inspired hole in Newtown has been a staple for both national and international acts, having seen the likes of Tim Rogers, Megan Washington, Cash Savage and even Elvis Costello perform on its personal stage.

Thankfully, there’s been no mention of any investors sniffing around with accommodation intentions like the case that crushed hearts in Melbourne last year when the treasured inner-city venue, The Palace, was bought-out and shut down to be come apartments.
