Following the release of the single and video for ‘Every Kind of Way’ the first taste from The Jungle Giants eagerly anticipated second album, the Brisbane outfit are now gearing up for an impressive national tour kicking off this week.

In support the single and clip, the band will play a series of shows that will see them performing old favourites as well as some cuts from their untitled sophomore album, which is slated for release this August.

In celebrating of the band’s killer new guitar driven indie pop single, we asked the band to introduce us to their fave Aussie acts making guitars cool again. Check out their selections below and don’t miss the band when they roll into your city.

The Creases

“These guys are awesome. We’ve actually played with them quite a bit so I’ve seen them a heap of times and just love them. Really beautiful a chord structures and simple lead lines with those kinda shoe-gazy/shimmery tones. They have a great sound. Psyched to hear what they release next.”  (Cesira Aitken – lead guitar)

Morning Harvey

“Keeping it local… Morning Harvey are a really sweet drone-pop band from Brissie.
They’ve released a couple of new tunes so far this year but their most recent single had some cool Wah guitar shreds through it. Love some Wah.”  (Cesira Aitken)

Baskervillain

“Baskervillain are absolute shred lords. They have a cool psych/soul/blues sound with those really warm and fuzzy Sabbath tones. Just a really cool band and a really cool guitar band at that. Sometimes you just wanna hear/see some pure unadulterated shred and these guys will give you that.”  (Cesira Aitken)

King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard

“These guys are sick. I’ve been listening to their stuff since they first played bigsound a couple of years ago. They are absolute shredders and the production on their records is really good. They play with a bunch of cool sounds and instruments on each record, and their guitar tones are always tasty.”  (Sam Hales – vox/ guitar)

Pond

“Pond are rad. I’ve seen them a bunch of times now, and they are insane. Heaps of fuzz and hectic melodic lines, along with super driving drums. They’re a wicked band live and on record.” (Sam Hales)

Moses Gunn Collective

“Moses Gunn have been around Bris for a while, and just recently they released a really cool EP. They’re super melodic and use a use a heap of cool tones. Their lead guitarist does this cool thing with his wammy bar where he plays every riff while vibrating it constantly, and gives all their songs a real distincitve wobbly and cool twang. They’re swick.” (Sam Hales)
