The rise of Alt-J has been one of the biggest music success stories of the new decade. Following the release of their second album, This Is All Yours, the band have gone from buzzed-about indie act to headlining arenas and festivals around Australia and back home.

Arguably the last UK band to see such an overwhelming response from music listeners was London folksters Mumford & Sons, who earned equal parts acclaim and derision for their musical formula, which was centred around lots of banjo, loud-quiet dynamics, and romantic-sounding nonsense.

Likewise, some argue that Alt-J, while sounding completely different to Mumford & Sons, rely on a basic formula for each of their songs. It basically boils down to sonorous layered vocals, vaguely sexual, innuendo-laden lyrics, and moody atmospherics.

At least, that’s what two members of Montreal-based psychedelic band Fleece argue in a recent video in which they try their hands at writing their own Alt-J song, and we must say, their tune, which we’ll for all intents and purposes call ‘Put It In My Butt’, is pretty spot-on.
