We are so very excited to announce the brand-spankin’ new music festival set to hit Aussie shores this winter.

Meet Supersense, a three-day event curated by performer Sophia Brous that will take over the Melbourne Arts Centre from Friday 7 – Sunday 9 August.

The fresh-faced event features a myriad of music and art instalments, and will see performances from the experimental/psych Ariel Pink, legendary German electronic artist Ash Ra Tempel/Manuel Gottsching, The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, not to mention the premiere of the stunning Gurrumul’s new concert, Gospel Songs.

That’s not all, there will also be performances from HTRK who are joining forces with Melbourne’s own Chunky Move, as well as Lydia Lunch’s Retrovirus, Marc Ribot, China’s sublime Tao Dance Theatre.

There will also be commissioned works by John Cale featuring Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance) and Laurel Halo as well as ‘Discreet+Oblique: The Music of Brian Eno’ featuring a cast of acclaimed artists including Australia’s ethereal improvised trio, The Necks.

Curated by globetrotting performer Sophia Brous in collaboration with the Asian Performing Arts Program, Supersense foregrounds musical and artistic traditions exploring ecstatic experience and transformation from both at home and around the world.

Brous on the upcoming event, “Supersense is an emporium for ecstatic experience, a durational festival-as-theatre that will fill audiences with wonder. It is a space to be curious and intrepid, to come see a legendary icon and then discover an entire world of sounds and traditions that are heart wrenching, extreme, profound and joyous.

“I am so very excited to step into this transformed environment and feel the impact of all the performances together with so many others in a program that could only happen in one of the great creative cities in the world” she concluded.

Tickets for this truly unique event are available from Monday 25 May, with whole day or single show passes for headlining acts.
