Winter isn’t looking too bad this year for Aussie live music fans, with a surprising amount of events to check out.

There’s the Holy Grail that is Splendour in the Grass, as well as the mysterious Summer camp-typed festival, the cool event at a Ski Resort, Melbourne’s wholly unique music and arts experience not to mention the festival taking over an entire town, and now it looks like there’s another music extravaganza to help keep the winter blues at bay.

Introducing the brand-spankin’ new boutique event, Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival, which takes place Saturday 22 August at the Sunshine Coast’s Horton Park Golf Course.

The fresh-faced music festival boasts of a massive inaugural lineup, which will see the likes of Hermitude, Hiatus Kaiyote, DZ Deathrays, Harts and Gang of Youths charm Queensland punters.

In addition to this, Maroochy will also feature The Kite String Tangle, Marlon Williams & the Yarra Benders, Alpine, One Day and WAAX, with the headliner of the festival a surprise that will be revealed at a later date.

It’s not just incredible live music on offer at Maroochy, with Amanda Parer heading the visual artist lineup, who will exhibit her life size installation Intrude in Maroochydore after touring MONA, London, Berlin and Tokyo, just to name a short few.

Situated in the heart of Maroochydore, the little piece of paradise that is Horton Park Golf Course needs to be sought after to be believed (most of the locals don’t even know there’s a fully fledged green in the middle of their CBD). This one-day festival will bring culinary delights, specially curated art stalls and many more surprises to come.

Tickets go on sale 9:00am Wednesday 27 May, for more information and to purchase tickets please visit www.mmvaf.com.
