Following on, but deviating from the dark, sombre soundscapes of Sydney songwriter Obscura Hail’s last work, his new single ‘Shaky Execution’ is a more optimistic and upbeat perspective from the folk artist.

Obscura Hail is the solo project of Sean Conran, a composer and acoustic artist who began his musical dabblings under this moniker in 2006.

The project is a hybrid of Conran’s artistic voice and wider social conscience, bringing together melancholic themes and insomniac contemplation.

Currently sitting on a extensive backlog of home demos and experimental recordings,  Conran has an impressive discography of  home-made album releases, including Mannequins are People Too (2010), Like a Monstrous Lizard (2011) and Boson (2012).

2013 – 14 saw Obscura Hail emerge from the shadows of his bedroom, becoming a stalwart for national touring acts in Wollongong such as Julia and the Deep Sea Sirens, Tonks and Green, Isaac Graham, Liam Gale and the Pony Tails, Lehmann B. Smith, Amy Vee and Georgia Mooney as well as playing at the Yours and Owls Farewell Festival.

Both sophisticated and simple, Conran’s authentic breed of gothic folk songwriting is a breath of fresh air within the local indie folk scene.

In celebration of the new single release, Conran will be perfuming a number of shows along the east coast. Check out the dates below, and for more info visit the Obscura Hail Facebook page.
