Having recently enjoyed a successful debut in Sydney as part of Vivid Ideas, the Society of Tastemakers and Elegant People (STEP) have now teamed up with LISTEN to present what they’ve dubbed their “most important music discussion yet”, ‘Women in Australian Music’.

Taking over The Toff in Town on Wednesday, 1st July, an experienced panel of experts will discuss a variety of topics, including some of the challenges women face in the Australian music industry and how we can work together to encourage a new generation of female leaders.

Coming together for this panel will be multi-talented singer-songwriter, actress, and entrepreneur Clare Bowditch, who will act as moderator; LISTEN co-founder and musician Evelyn Morris; and Rookie staff writer and The Good Copy senior editor Brodie Lancaster.

The panel will also feature Melbourne-based musician and respected venue booker Emily Ulman, music journalist and Cherry Bomb author Jenny Valentish, and Helen Marcou of SLAM and co-owner of Bakehouse Studios.

The night will also feature a pre-panel DJ performance from Whiskey Houston, while recent Triple R ‘Album of the Week’ recipients Totally Mild will perform a special set to close this night of unique perspectives, ideas, and actions.

Readers can check below for dates and ticketing details. Tickets are $10 online and $15 on the door. Make sure you get in early, because this one is sure to sell out. Special two-for-one tickets are available to APRA AMCOS, AIR, and Music Victoria members.
