This August, a new Aussie music festival is set to debut in Sydney, only this one has a special twist. Billed as an “innovative debut Sydney live music concept” and set right in the cultural heart of the city, Volumes 2015 will take place in three of Sydney’s premier live music venues.
Some of Australia’s most beloved local acts are slated for the lineup, including Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders, The Laurels, Canyons, Lower Spectrum, Noise In My Head, World Champion, Catlips, The Walking Who, Zeahorse, Day Ravies, Shining Bird, Step-Panther, and many more.
Volumes is a collaborative effort between some of Australia’s most innovative and interesting labels, bands, and venues, who’ve come together to craft a “cohesive and holistic live music concept”, the first of its kind to take place in Sydney.
Punters will be given a single wristband, which will allow them to move freely between the Oxford Art Factory, OAF Gallery Bar, The Cliff Dive, and Brighton Up Bar. Each stage will have its own unique identity, with carefully curated lineups and immersive space design, putting punters on a journey between different environments.
The event is co-curated and presented by a host of major industry names, including Sydney and Melbourne’s I OH YOU, the Leisure Coast’s Farmer & the Owl, and the Gold Coast’s Strange Yonder, creating a showcase of the most creative and promising artists Australia has to offer.
Volumes aims to grow into a platform for record labels and artists from around Australia and the world to collaborate, showcase their artists, and curate unique lineups, similar to what Austin’s SXSW and Brighton’s The Great Escape has done for music in the US and the UK.
