We’re all more than familiar with AC/DC, and we know what a massive part of our rock and roll identity is owed to them, but how well do you know the iconic Aussie record label which served as Acca Dacca’s home base for their assault on the world?

Well, a new two-part documentary set to debut on ABC tonight is going to school you on Alberts, the record label that gave birth to the Australian rock and roll sound, thanks in large part to its life-long bond with the Youngs.

Beginning with the early successes of Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs and The Easybeats, Blood and Thunder: The Sound of Alberts will cover how the label came to dominate the Australian rock scene, signing and developing acts like The Angels, John Paul Young, and AC/DC.

It’s not only essential viewing for any self-respecting AC/DC fan, but any Aussie music fan or anyone interested in the country’s cultural history. Blood and Thunder: The Sound of Alberts will air on ABC at 8:30pm AEST Thursday, 24th June.
